Background colours

Today at Enrich... no no NO.... I will NOT start with boring old "Today at Enrich."  This time, I will start with... Hmm. I know, I know!  I was sooo nervous...

I was sooo nervous as Thomas called out my name to present my affective study.  It is on J.K Rowling aka Joanne Rowling.

10 minutes later...

"I liked how you had all the colours for the backgrounds." said Katie

Whew, I thought as I walked off the stage. That didn't go too bad.

Talk to you next week,

BYE

P.S If you are in Invercargill you MUST come and see the beautiful tree that Nicola put up at Enrich at 7:00 am yesterday morning!

201- advanced

Today we had the choice of a three week workshop. I chose Writers Studio 201.
Here is my work I did today: (Nicola is going to edit them for us at the weekend, so it is in its raw form)

Back in 1936, it must have been so romantic to meet your lover under the moonlight then sweep of to the orchard and just sit together under delicate blossom trees. I almost fell off of the branch I was perched on in the plantation. Just imagine it, receiving a beautifully wrapped something a few days later, with red roses.   Aaahhh, just the thought of it.
I suddenly felt a small poke on my right rib bone.  “ Amelia, dad has fallen out of the tree again”.  It was Pearl. Grumbling to myself, I climbed down from my special spot,(a hole in the tree) to make sure dad was OK.  I don’t know why we always had to do this, dad had never wanted us, most of the day he just sat in his armchair, on his computer, working.

Do you think daughters should be treated like this? I love it when mum is home, she is so nice and when we hurt ourselves, or anything like that, she takes us out for a Peneloles ice cream, which is almost every day, because if we do not do as he says, dad beats us black ‘n’ blue. I don’t know why mum married him in the first place. I s’pose its because when she’s around she never sees him doing things like that and she doesn’t like us talking about him (when she’s around) nastily.
We had to have a sentence starter, and mine  is the start of my story until the first comma.

Talk to you next time,
Olivia

Where's My Solo Nicola?

Nicola is back after ages being sick in bed. I am glad because in three weeks we are going out onto the street to do some christmas song busking.  We are doing (so far learnt) Jingle Bells, Joy to the World and Deck the Halls. I have not gotten my solo piece yet, but I hope I will get it next week

BYE!

Thursday 17 October 2013

That's right, I'm BACK and bloggin'.  Today we had to choose between a Passion Project or Singing 201 with, (the one and only), Nicola Lynch! Of course, I chose Singing 201 Since singing 101 is beginner, I wonder why advanced is called 201 and not 102? Anyway, that's a question for later.
I am so excited to be back at Enrich that I am nearly jumping out of my undies.

Blog ya later!

DO NOT FRET!

Well well well. Hasn't the term gone quickly. DO NOT FRET, I WILL BE BACK NEXT TERM. WHY AM I SHOUTING? I HAVE NO IDEA. I WILL STOP SHOUTING NOW.  Ok, today for performance we watched the video that Darryn took of us performing on chess night.  Then, like last week, we went on Garageband.
I have NO idea what else to say, so BYE BYE (till after the holidays).

Thursday 19 September 2013

1 and 2 and 3 and 4...

1 and 2 and 3 and 4...

"Very good!" said Nicola, as my Garage band song thingy finished.  Today in performance, we were having a relaxation day (because we had performed on Tuesday night) and Nicola said we could either go on Garageband or SFS Kids and I chose Garage band.
Unfortunately I could not put my music on here, so will just have to take my word that it was G-R-E-A-T!
I don't know ANYTHING else to talk about, so BYE-BYE till next week!

Thursday 12 September 2013

Almost!

"Uuuhhhhh!  I missed that bit."
"Oh well, keep on dancin', keep on dancin', keep on dancin'..".
Today, in performance we practiced the two dances we have learned.  Just a reminder, the performance is at chess night on Tuesday the 17th.
We practiced and practiced and practiced some more.  That just was us practicing Don't Stop Me Now.
Then we practiced and practiced and practiced some more on Let Me Entertain You.
"WHEW!" That was a workout!  We almost got it right, and that was why keep practicing and practicing.

WELL.......... That was fun,
talk to you next time.

Thursday 5 September 2013

Guess what, guess what, GUESS WHAT!!!
We have learnt all of the dance Ella (from James Hargest Senior Campus) was teaching us! All! Thats right, ALL! We are dancing to Let Me Entertain You By Robbie Williams.
We also practiced the Don't Stop Me Now moves.
UN-fortunately, I did not get the solo for Some Things Are Meant To Be from Little Women.    I did not think I would get it. Anyway, I like books MUCH better. (No offence to the people who like performance/singing.)

Bye-Bye till next time!

Olivia

Thursday 29 August 2013

We had quite a different performance time today.  First, we had Ella from James Hargest Senior Campus come in and show us some dance moves to the song Let Me Entertain You by Robbie Williams, then we had auditions for the Some Things Are Meant To Be soloist.  Nicola said if you don't get a call on Tuesday, you (unfortunately) are not the soloist.

Till next time, adieu!

Thursday 15 August 2013

Have you ever read the book, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott?  We got a new song today, and it is from the new musical (according to Nicola!).   I want to read the book it is based on, I think it sounds interesting.  Do you? We are going to sing it in two parts, we are group one, (Friday), and I am not quite sure which day is doing group two.

We are also doing Don't Stop Me Now with all the actions that we have learnt.

Till next week, adios!Olivia

Mug shots and fake smiles

"Remember," said Nicola.  "Don't do a fake smile."  Okay, I thought.  Since I wasn't here last week I was going to have to work at super speed.  Oh! I forgot! I wasn't here (at Enrich) last week because a virus is going round.  (According to mum it is a virus, anyway.)  But I  am all better and at Enrich and I will start  talking about learning instead of my health problems. About my title, I was NOT taken to jail, we needed (according to Nicola) to take a mug shot of ourselves for the wall, BUT that was last week so I also had to have a full body photo taken AND sent to Katie for printing in colour.

I will talk to you next week because I am out of things to talk about.

Thursday 11 July 2013

I was soooo nervous when I walked into the battlefield.  I was challenged by a master.
A master of the chess field..... CLARA!

Immediately, I launched into the first moves that Darryn had taught me.  I fought as hard as I could, but Clara won, in the end.

I learnt a valuable lesson that day, NEVER CHALLENGE A CHESS MASTER!!!

Thursday 4 July 2013

In your life,
In your life,
In your life.

We finished singing Maybe Tomorrow, the new song we got today.
I learnt how to learn a song with it only being played three times. Thats right, THREE! T-h-r-e-e, yep, only three!  It isn't that hard, this is how I did it: practice two times with the words in front of you, and then try it without the words. it might or might not work...

We also did cloud watching, well, I did cloud watching.
Did you know that the types of clouds are, Stratocumulus, Cumulonimbus, Stratus, Cumulus, Altocumulus and Cirrus.
I found a...
Cirrus, Stratus, Cumulus and an Altocumulus,

SEE YOU NEXT TIME!

We did solos today in performance and my bit in Like an Eagle is at the start and it goes like this...

And a star will show the way, above the clouds, beyond the sea.

Nicola said when someone is singing a solo you look at hem like they are a ice cream you would like to eat, so when I am singing my solo I get all these people looking at me weirdly....

Till next time, bloggers

Shaking knees

(clapping noise)   I went up to the top step and immediately launched into the monologue that I had been given exactly two weeks ago.  "As the car hit the first dip in the track, it happened,  My dad HURLS!!!"   When I finished Nicola said "Good girl, you just need to speak a little louder".
We performed the monologues in front of the performance group today.

If I had a magic wand I would make myself NEVER be nervous because when I went on stage I was so nervous that my knees were shaking.

( do you like my glasses?)

Thursday 6 June 2013

Gasping for breath!

Ow, double ow and, triple ow!  I had Pearl, Hamish and Daniel on top of me.  "Poor Kady," I thought, "she had everyone on top of her."  Including, (in order) me, then Pearl, then Daniel, and finally, Hamish. We were making a human sandwich in drama.

I was a bit worried that Kady could't breathe because she was going a bit red in the face.  I could hardly breathe myself but I only had three people on me and Kady had four!

The category that game is in is called spatial drama.

Blog ya next week!

Hurling up hotdogs

And he HURLED!!

We are doing monologues at Performance group for the next few weeks.  A monologue is like a character piece where the audience hear what the actor is thinking, and you have to learn it.  I chose one about the dangers of taking your parents to Disneyland.
Here is my favorite part;
I started to question him about the four hotdogs he had wolfed down while we were waiting in line... and then it happened... my dad HURLS!

Thats why you don't take your parents to Disneyland.

I agree, don't you?

Flying into the sun

"So imagine you're leaving home and thanking your family, especially your mum and dad." Nicola said.

Like an eagle I will race above the clouds, I will spread my wings and fly into the suuunnnn.

"Good girls, now we're going to sing that again, but standing up.  Nicola said, after we had sung "Like an Eagle".

"Now we're going to sing "Don't stop me now" said Nicola,  and there are a few new actions that we are going to do...

That was a bit of our performance group time conversation.

Now I'm doing my blog post.

Blog you later!

No Nicola today

Since Nicola wasn't here today, we girls in the performance group had to run Talent Development all by ourselves.
Just joking.  Ella-Rose took charge of the music and we did a run through once of all our songs.
We also got a new song and its called " Like an Eagle".  Its a bit slow and one or two girls said they didn't like it but I like slow songs. (sometimes)

Au revoir till next time!!!

Olivia

PS Darryn and Katie are very proud of you all for working so well and so sensibly today!

La la la laaa!!!!!!

We just finished singing Don't stop me now by Queen.

Next we are going to try the new song, Life on mars, said Nicola A.K.A.  The best performance teacher in the world.
After we finished singing, I thought, I don't like that song that much.  Hopefully I warm up to it.

We sang another song which was luckily Oh my by Gin Wigmore.

See you next week!

Performance group...

"We are going to sing Don't stop me now first" said Nicola.  I breathed a sigh of relief, we were going to sing a song, but that wasn't what I was relieved about.  It was that we were finally going to do something instead of waiting for Nicola to come back....

Two hundred degrees, Thats why they call me mister fahrenheit;  a few minutes later we were singing our hearts out.  If I had a magic wand I would change myself into Nicola when she is teaching performance because I would be able to go on the keyboard.

See you after the holidays and until then, bon voyage!

Chess

Dammit!  I groaned as I looked at the chess clock.  Pearl was beating me.  There was about one minute difference and Pearl had the upper hand.  I groaned again as Pearl took my bishop.  I obviously had missed that one.  I looked at my side of the chess clock.  Uh oh, I only had one minute left, otherwise Pearl would win by the chess clock.  But then I saw my chance!  Pearl had missed that her queen was in the path of my bishop.  "Got your queen" I said to Pearl.  But my moment of glory had only lasted a few seconds because I looked at the chess clock and I only had twenty seconds left.  I tried my hardest to go as fast as I could but in the end Pearl won by chess clock.

Till next time, au revoir.

Art with Darryn

"Ugh" I said as I rubbed out my fifth mistake on my bishop still life picture.  I was in the smelly corner (now the music studio and enrich newspaper office. And anything else you can think of) with my group and we were drawing bishops and other chess pieces.  Remember last weeks post?  I was with my group from then.  My bishop drawing was not looking like a bishop.  Finally, what felt like two hours later which was probably more like half an hour, I was finished.  Up above is a photo of my finished drawing.

Goodbye for now, fellow bloggers!

Thursday 14 March 2013

'Cause we belong together now, yeah
Forever united here somehow, yeah

We were in the used to be smelly corner (now called the enrich newspaper place and music studio) and singing My life would suck without you.  I was singing with Violet, Raina, Cassie, Pearl, Georgie, Kady and Nicola ( our teacher ).  I felt a bit nervous at the start but after a while I was having lots of fun.

See you next week

( Music playing)      (music stops)  Bump!  That was the sound of bums (I should say bottoms, its the polite way to say it)  hitting the floor.  You're out, said a voice.  It was Nicola. Oh stink, I said.  I was out.  As I walked over to the steps, I noticed that the other girls that were already out were standing on the highest step (which was at the back of the room) and still dancing.  So what I thought to myself, its not the end of the world. I went over and starting dancing as well to lift my spirits.

That was Olivia on the subject of musical bumps.

See ya next week!

Guess who won a chess game today...    ME!!!       Sorry about the big start, its just that I haven't won a chess game in so long.   I versed Tara but I did not move up the leaderboard because we forgot to check the leaderboard at the start.  I ended up moving one space!!!   Check out the photo of my leaderboard place above.

Till next time, chow
Olivia.
